bookmaking

klaus has been doing a lot of bookmaking.  this is the cover of pirateology*

and my favorite spread from the book (which also included a dragon, and pirate ship, and miscellaneous symbols):

*replicating this book, which he does not have but has looked at many times.  the whole series is really cool, and he does have several, but some of them are a little grown-up for him.

klaus has also made many montserologies, a lephrechaunology, egyptology, oceanology, and has summer plans for treeology and robberology.

art & craft supplies storage

i didn't think of taking "before" pictures, but i have a couple "during" which are scary enough:

about 10% of what was on top of my fridge - notice the random items like a discman and a twig.

craft supplies - not counting all the craft supplies in the rest of the house which should be sorted into here, just what was on top of the fridge.

me: i don't think lip balm is a craft supply.

klaus: yes it is, because the person who wears the dress is also going to wear the make-up.

me: what, the model?

klaus: yes.  we're making a design-dress.  for me.  so i'm the model, so i get to wear the make-up - can you pass me the make-up?  (applies bonnie bell watermelon lipsmakers.) do i look beautiful?

i can't believe i forgot to take a picture of everything (which is more than these two trays) on top of the fridge.  tomorrow - and maybe also the "design-dress" which is actually a zhaina-style tutu . . . sort of.

klaus has been very busy with the glue and the pom-poms (and the standard blue pen)

i found this sad laminate cabinet on craigslist and brian made it beautiful with paint (and help from the boys), and got the lamp from goodwill for $2.  perfect!  the vintage microscope was a gift.

next step: relocate all the toys from the floor of the play room (our previous bedroom) to the shelf & cabinet!

a little adventure

and one i'm not likely to take both boys on again any time soon.  it started out smoothly enough.

but quickly got out of control

i had to draw the line at their request to bring the wool into the bath with them.

i'm in love with these monsters klaus drew last night.  he made about thirty of them.  i need to figure out how to make a print with all of them!

 
 
 

the shipyard

my boys fell in love with these cheap, cheesy model ships on a recent shopping trip.  in a moment of weakness, i agreed to buy them.  then i was faced with the prospect of having them on display somewhere in our house . . . gross.  they're just not our style.  the solution: make them our style. 

painting the ships is one of the boys' favorite activities now.

and at this rate, we'll be painting the ships for a long time.
